Are fur buyers still buying and whats the average $$ per kilo these days??

Hi there, last time I skinned a possum was about 15 years ago, I'm seriously considering getting back into the possum game due to unemployment. This time round instead of skinning I'll be plucking the wee buggers.

 Any help concerning if buyers are still buying and whats the average going price for a kg these days would be much appreciated.

Some are, and normally I get $105 a kilo.

Cheers for your reply libero. $105 per kg? Thats not bad at all. Especially considering that plucking the wee buggers is heaps easier and faster than skinning them.

 My only problem is I have to buy new traps because the last time I went trapping I used gin traps that are now illegal.

If they are lanes ace traps, my understanding is they are only illegal to use on DOC land. I may be interested in them if you are going to get rid of them.

Was selling to a private lady who produces her own product line, but she is not buying again till after xmas. Fur dressers and dyers are supposedly going to be buying again this week, but they are $100 a kilo for under 10kg, and $105 for over.
